For AS, I only know of SEA and PDX to DCA so you would have to connect at one of those two. Partner AA, you would have to connect out of LAX. If it's double/tripled compared to non-partners, I would probably bite the bullet and book the flight with a non-partner.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on the above.
