Even on 2 tickets, AA should be able to check your bags through to TPE. Both TG and BR have interline agreements with AA.

Although, if you DID have to get your bags, the BR flight is the ONLY option, since you land at 4, you wouldn't make the 4:30pm check-in closing time for the TG flight. Since you are arriving at the concourse terminal, you need to deplane, ride the train to the main terminal to get your bags, wait for them, clear immigration (which can sometimes take a while at ICN, I've waited anywhere from 0-40 min), and make upstairs to check in all in 30 minutes? It's impossible, even if your flight was on time.
Thank you for all the comments! I booked the later BR flight just to be safe. Can't risk missing the flight.
It's good to know I might be able to check the bags all the way to TPE. I will call AA to confirm! Thank you all!
