I am seeing an erosion in that benefit as well (and I thought it was up to 3 years, not 5). Recently I've had some pretty piddly claims get rejected or just gotten buried in paperwork to make me go away. Before it was something that I could count on and so I always used my Cent card for purchases where I wanted that protection.
