Anyone realize the "Old AA" went bankrupt? The changes they have implemented are necessary to keep these companies alive, and prevent the bankruptcy cycle they have been caught in for the last 30 years. Right now they are making profits because oil is down, and customers/businesses are spending. Wait a year or two for another recession and we'll see what happens. Hopefully they've made the right changes to get through economic downturns without declaring bankruptcy.

Air travel has changed permanently and it is never going back to the way it was. Either accept the changes and adapt, or stop flying.
