Like many other areas of consumer spending, the top spenders will continue to reap benefits. For everyone else its more and more of "Wal Martization" of the world. Is hard its to believe someone used to pump your gas, clean your windshield and check your fluids. FF programs, particularly the elite part is going to get much less generous for most FF members.
excellent point, for me, I am not a last minute ticket buyer, since I work for myself, I always try to book weeks out, granted most of my travel is international, I have seen fares to BOM anywhere from $1300 to $2800,
London.. well forget it, it has been cheaper for me to fly to BOM than LHR
My wife works for a major overnight package service, it seems the only ones that are booking last minute fares are the consulants they use, she along with fellow employees have to book the cheapest ticket, with an option to buy up ($50 max) if they want to travel on the airline of their choice.
