You will, however, probably find that the inbound sector is inflexible in line with normal ex-UK I class rules. The outbound will remain semi-flex if so, but the inbound half will be non-changeable.
I have several times found an ex-EU return LHR fare to be significantly cheaper (though in other cases return to the EU starting point was required). This usefully avoids the question of having to drop the last segment or handling return from the EU.
As to changeability, I recently booked LIN-LHR-PEK / HND-LHR (open jaw) with the outbound in CE/CW and return in WT+ and the HND-LHR segment is changeable. Price was much discounted over the CW out from London (I decided not to fork out for CW on the way back as it's not overnight).
