Wouldn't that depend if you're simply trying to get an annual fee waiver? If I call well before the annual fee appears, I would think there could possibly be another retention offer. I will be calling after my next statement closes even though I'm 6 months away from the AF. The changes to the US Airways card duplicate benefits that the Citi card already gets me, so this card is redundant.
I assume it's very YMMV. I called for my Arrival AF that hits in late Nov. and he said to call back closer to when it's due. Spoke to a front-line CSR and supervisor.
