What relevance does that have? Costs are home are related to costs at home and have no bearing on costs somewhere else.
If pad thai costs you $10 in NYC does that make it legit for a mom n pop resto in Ayuthaya to charge you $9? (When the menu in Thai says 50 baht?)

This is a good idea. Often the fares become outrageous because the cost per km increasing for increasing distance.
