Partner Airline Claims Question
Hi,
Long time lurker - first time poster. Have had a bit of a search round and can't find anything directly relevant to this so here goes...
I'm a lowly blue member of the BAEC (a twice monthly MAN-LHR for work doesn't do enough for me but I use the abios to fly to Europe a few times a year). My wife recently decided it would be a good idea to get in on the act, and booked a US Airways trip to San Diego for work, checking on the BA earning calculator this should yield 70 TP's each for MAN-PHL, PHL-SAN, SAN-CLT and CLT-MAN as well as nearly 8k avios. It's been discussed somewhere on here that there has been an issue with US tier point crediting giving discounted economy extra TP's.
Thing is, she forgot to join the BAEC in the busy few days before going away. Upon trying to claim the points on return on Monday, we found that BA say you cannot claim for flights before you joined for partner airlines, only for BA flights.
Is there any way to get around this? I assume I wouldn't get away with crediting them to my account, but could I add her as a supplementary to my account, or can staff in the call centre get around it?
If not, does anyone know if I could sign her up to the Dividend Miles scheme from US to get at least some use out of it in the short term?
Cheers,
A
