It's often too easy to think such issues are easily accomplished, without significant cost impacts. Just think about what's required:

- are there any other feedback updates which need to be incorporated (e.g. relating to BA's forthcoming internet on board product or 787/A380)

- script needs to be written

- script approved by BA internal safety people and the CAA

- Animation created

- actors hired

- voiceover recorded

- final animation approved by BA safety people/CAA

- crew training

- redistribution of new safety video on board across a fleet of hundreds of aircraft

A small change like this will probably cost tens of thousands of pounds.

And if there's a plan afoot to re-do the safety video completely (and it is over five years since the hot blond boy who resembled Jason Donovan was retired), it makes sense to wait and do one update rather than make piecemeal changes.

This is a not inconsiderable logistical task, so it's probably not just for cost reasons this hasn't yet been addressed.

Though I do think it's been rather too long with the sticking-plaster of the announcement.
