I collected miles with one airline, can I use them with another inside the alliance?
For instance I have 100,000 miles with British Airways but I found a good deal with Qatar. Can I transfer my miles to Qatar or to any other airline inside the alliance?
Please explain this for me because if not then I don't understand the meaning of the alliances. For instance I regularly flown with different airlines but I always chosen one world members. Now I have some miles with Qantas, BA, Qatar, Cathay Pacific and with Finnair. For me it would be obvious and needed to be able to transfer my miles inside these airlines to be able to upgrade using them!
If this is not the case then how does this whole thing works? What would be the smart way to collect miles in the future?
