Hi I've read on here that although the number of sc required to achieve platinum is 1000 that some people get upgraded when they are pretty close.

Does this generally happen or is it random and how close to 1000 to be bumped?

I'm at 920 sc ... I'm looking at booking my next trip but should I book return saver (30 sc = 950 sc), saver/,flexi (45), flexi return (60), business/saver (75) or business/flexi (90) ... To get plat? After this next trip my sc balance goes down 100 points so want to get plat before I lose another 100
