I'm BA bronze, so OW ruby. Was recently travelling through JFK T8 with my parents, who don't have status; all heading back to MAN in AA J. At check-in I noticed that my BP was showing OW emerald, and when we arrived at the lounge the agent invited us to the Flagship Lounge "because of [my] BA gold status."

Very pleasant surprise, and the family enjoyed the lounge. But I'm intrigued as to how it happened -- my online AA bookings all show ruby, and I probably won't make BA silver this year, let alone gold. Anyone else had a similar experience?
