LAX Gate 45 - it's a real mess in my experience
I had the misfortune to get a boarding pass with Gate 210 on it yesterday. Tweeting AA elicited a reply that they showed Gate 45 so it shouldn't be a bus.
Of course they don't know the detail of the awful Gate 45 experience at LAX.
Signs at Admirals Club warn passengers to get to the gate extra early as it's a 15 minute bus journey to the plane.
So about 60 minutes before the departure I went to the gate where the crew were hanging around and there was no agent. The sole agent arrived at about 30 minutes before departure and the crew were despatched to the plane.
About 10 minutes later the first passengers were sent off in the bus. Buses have probably 20 seats and everyone else was standing. Disabled people are loaded on to the same bus as the able bodied.
At the remote gate we waited 15 more minutes on the bus. We then went up the ramp to get on the plane.
Once on board there was a series of text messages whilst AA delayed the flight by 30 minutes. Two further buses arrived and we did indeed leave 30 minutes late.
It was a horrid experience all around, and I am disappointed that when AA tells its passengers to get to the gate early they cannot get their own staff there early.
