I'm not sure where you're based (Pacific NW is a big vague), but assuming you're SEA-based, UA's recently switched their SEA-SFO service to all-mainline. Plus, they tend to use Airbus aircraft on this route, all of which have been retrofitted with Wi-Fi.
Are your common destinations served by VX? If you have to connect through SFO anyway, have you considered VX?
