I did an initial recon on my application day, but the rep basically said that I already had a US Airways credit card and so I did not need another (yes, I am applying for another US Airways credit card to get the 35k bonus before US Airways merges with AA). Mitigating factors were too many hard pulls. I said I needed another card for separate work-related expenses, but the rep caught me and lamented that I did not really use my first card, so I could use that for the separate work expenses. Arsehole...
Today the official rejection letter came. Despite a credit score of 750+, the rejection reasons stated were:
- Too many inquiries last 12 months
- Too many accounts recently opened
- Length of time accounts have been established
Any tips on how to approach Barclays in a 2nd recon? Should I start charging something this month to make a show out of it before callng again? Maybe I just got a hard-arse rep the first time? Ask for supervisor?
But in any case, it would seem that Barclays look back period for hard pulls is 12mths and NOT 6mths like most other issuers, good to know if this is not public knowledge already...
I think Barclays is just a different animal. I got denied for to many inquiries. Fico 823 per Barclays. 8 inquiries over last 12 months. 3 for new car purchase in 7/2013 (dealer, FMCC, and local bank) and 1 more for opening a new savings and checking account. So I'm not sure how you can work with them! And I don't even have a US card lol.
