I called a few weeks earlier on the frontier b/c i wanted the no fee version was told to call back, which I did on several occasions. Only 1 time did they offer the Arrival no-fee for the Frontier card, They told me the no-fee frontier wasn't listed in "my offers".
I received no offers or adjustments and cancelled both. Now my wife's Arrival card is due, I'm not hoping for much ... however as posted above, the Annual fee is listed in the rewards tab on the website, meaning you can use points to pay the fee.
The amex gift cards are also on Barclay boost at 4x points + 2x on the card .... sooo if I don't get the fee waived I'll probably use points to pay the fee, MS an Amex card and restore the spent points .
Update... made the call to Barclays last night.
The immediate answer was "no" they couldn't waive the fee based on benefits, etc. I think he even mentioned the law.
I explained I liked the card and used it quite often, but I have other reward cards available to me and I couldn't justify keeping the Arrival another year for $89. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor.
I was left on hold for 4-5 minutes (I believe he was talking to his supervisor about our conversation)
I was surprised when a pleasant woman picked up the call and immediately waived the fee. As of this morning the fee is gone off my online statement, not even credited, just gone.
Data point, this was our go-to card for several months when we 1st received it, we had over 7K of total spend including 2K MS (amex gift cards through the Boost portal) the 5K of spend were plenty of small purchases with lots of swipes.
There's an additional positive to this scenario which I'll not divulge to not blow this deal for others.
Needless to say I'm quite happy with the outcome as this is one of my favorite cards
