Skycanner et al. are meta search engines that often rely on cached results from OTAs who also have cached results. So a lot of phantom availability there along with the POS changes.

Trying out different localisations will yield different results (e.g. kayak au get different results than kayak de) with skyscanner being the worst of the bunch because of their deals with less known OTAs that quote part of the fare to begin with. Taxes/fees get added on the final page.

Not to mention au ota's impose the CC fees much like the airlines do.
