OP, my apologies if you took it personally. I would never have responded the way I did if you haven't been so insistent when people pointed out you put your post in the wrong place. I agree we should be welcoming to new, inexperienced members of the community. But that gets you the ability to be forgiven for putting something in the wrong forum, not talking back to people who point out you did so
Unfortunately, for some of us, the quality of Flyertalk has decreased greatly with the advent of the Information Desk and the increase in numbers of people disregarding the stickies explaining the purposes of particular forums. Thanks for the note about my profile. I mostly use the app, which doesn't show that info.
You may not know it, but people like FrugalTravelGuy are the reason newbies have flooded this place, and he (and now his website) have gotten rich off "newbies" by providing very basic info and selling credit cards.
I still think Info Desk is the proper place for your post. In its title, it says it is the place for "New Member Q&A and cross program Award Travel Advice". It is also the place for "newbies" who simply want to get info, rather than share it. (Not all members of FT). It is also the designated "flame free" forum, implying other threads have "flames."
