Dear Adam1222,
Many thanks for your sarcastic remarks. What you have mentioned, however, is quite interesting and I will try my utmost best to deconstruct what you have said.
1)
"requests from travelers who would like others to use the internet, google, and search features for them-- the information desk"
- Are you suggesting that all 553,923 FlyerTalk members are travelers who are too lazy to do their own research? I am sure they are not but why are
you on FT then? Why do
you go on Hotel Deals on FT to check out stuff? You sound like an expert who uses the Net and Google to find excellent hotel deals. So my question again to ask why
you are here. I know why I am here. Because people on FT
share their tips in a
friendly environment, that's why. People contribute tips and they gain knowledge. This is a two way street.
2)
"for people who can't be bothered to search for information in the forum for each loyalty program"
- You are presuming that I did not bother to search for information. Well buddy, you are wrong. As someone who claims to be an attorney on his blog, (does this satisfy your criteria that I do my research beforehand) I am sure you have been taught never to presume.
- I have been spending a lot of time reading about hotel loyalty schemes. I know the theory (number of nights needed to achieve elite status, benefits which come with newly acquired elite status) but I do not know how it is put into practise.
- Which is why, I asked, in practise how long do members get to hold onto their elite status. On some hotel programs, you hold onto the elite status far longer than expected even if you did not qualify for it in the following year. That was all
I wanted to know.
3) Since you claim to have the following status "PC PlatAmb; Hilton Carlson & SPG Gold; Marriott Silver; Hyatt Plat" why don't you share your experience instead of writing a baseless paragraph such as the above.
- Point of note. Priority Club has been renamed IHG Rewards Club since March 2013 so you might want to update your information accordingly. Just a suggestion, bien sur.
4) I would thoroughly recommend reading the following

Lastly, I may be a newbie but remember you were once a newbie too. Go pick on someone else in your own league.
