Since moving back to London, its strikes me just how grim the Tesco experience is here, certainly compared to what I was used to in Edinburgh and Glasgow. My nearest Tesco Extra is in New Malden and it is pretty crowded with lengthy queues at the till and that’s after the stocky suited duty manager actually lets me past the threshold - I’m slowly getting used to local Sunday trading laws here.

I used to complain to the point of boredom how wretched the Edinburgh Corstorphine Extra was - a view largely tainted by the frequent in store conflicts between the roast chicken cabinets and the building’s fire suppression system plus the seasonal grid lock - I once almost lost a Christmas just getting out of the car park one Christmas Eve. Still, it is marginally closer to the Waitrose experience I encounter in London.

Completely agree on the point about Tesco’s out of touch BOGOF obsession
