I wish this was true. Being silver and flying from SFO I have suffered not being able to get a aisle/window on many flights. Perhaps the flights I am taking are too popular, but I am about a 50/50 for E+ aisle/window over the past year or so.
All you need is seat alerts and constant checking, right down to at the gate.
On narrowbodies, there are at least two specific E+ seats that are usually blocked and are almost always available to those checking in at exactly T-24. On widebodies, there are more.
