The breakfast policy for status holders seems to be designed and practiced to cap the expenses of feeding guests while minimizing the situation of the benefit being used to entertain local residents (or others in the vicinity of the hotel who happen to be staying overnight at some other place). I'm fine with that, although in this kind of situation it seems rather ridiculous that registering two rooms each under the same two guests' names would technically entitle both people to breakfast while the OP's situation technically is excluded. It's situations like this that encourage customers to play games that technically abide by the rules, and that is fine by me too.
