The problem starts with that people aren't used to, and are not really willing to accept, that in some countries you pay for a room based on occupancy. But that really doesn't get you anything more than that those people can stay in the room... No breakfast or any other amenities that aren't associated with the roomrate.
And those breakfast rules are not random, they are actually meant to ptevent people from inviting others to get a free meal. What would be next, inviting the whole company for a free start of the day...and maybe some drinks in the afternoon. And since most Asian properties actually have a decent breakfast, that is worth protecting from freeloaders or otherwise we would probably end up with the crap you get elsewhere.
So instead of shouting here what should have happened is that a room should have been booked for the one staying. And simply paying for the other breakfast.
