It's strange how companies choose to present their figures, as if making over
£2,191 million profit is shabby. Similar to M&S where again the profits were vast, but the staff are to get nothing, (at M&S) no bonus, no encouragement, just an increasingly hostile work environment where the staff don't feel part of the business, and some see little reason to put themselves out.
Waitrose / John Lewis partnership of course rewarded staff with a bonus of 15% which is less than previously, but reflects the investment and improvements being made..... And encourages staff to buy in.
Do I enjoy shopping in Tesco or M&S? No.
And it is all to do with the greed of the business model.... I can't see it improving until the experience improves and that means looking after the staff too.
Yep. £2.191 billion profit. Think about it, even if it is marginally less that previously.
