The ones I am talking about, the ones with the atrocious purple & grey color coordination, require the user to call to set the pin. They are sold at Kroger and I believe the issuer is US Bank. They cost $5.95 and are Visas. These work without difficulty at WalMart using the old system.
Those also have a pin assigned that is in the packaging. That further proves our theory that cards with preset pins are less hassle. In this case, they're more expensive.
