Whilst I don't understand the OP's point, I do take the Avios earned into account when deciding who to fly with, and whether to redeem Avios or pay cash. For example, I could fly to Belfast on a HBO fare for (say) £60, but earn 1,000 Avios which I value at £10. Therefore even if Aer Lingus are offering the fare at £55 I'll still fly with BA (taking the lounge access into account makes it even more of a no-brainer).
