I live a couple of miles away from what was Britain's first aerodrome (contrary to the claims in the video), which was built near Leysdown in 1909. I don't know enough to comment on the rest of it, but it didn't get off to a good start!

(Side note: the local parish council is terribly proud of being the birthplace of British aviation, but there's not much to commemorate it - a few photos in the former clubhouse at Shellness and an iron-cast sign at the parish boundary.
