Not sure if this helps, but I have done Delta International -> Delta Domestic in under an hour and a half at ATL - including secondary questioning for looking like Edward Snowdon.

It is a busy airport and I see why the MCT is so long. The airport is quite logically laid out and not too hard to navigate (the train is quite speedy and regular IME).
