Most US airlines have a flat tire rule (usually informal, but I know there is at least one airline where it's in their T&Cs) where they will accommodate you at no charge on the next available flight on that airline if you arrive at the airport within 1-2 hours of the originally booked flight. AA is usually very good at accommodating people in such situations (and in fact was great when I missed a flight to YVR a few years ago, helping me rebook out of a different city no less since flights out of my local airport were overbooked for 3 days). Problem is OP would be checking in with AS not AA and would be dependent on 1) their rules and 2) flight availability (on AS
and AA).
Hopefully, though, all of this is a moot point and the OP made his original flights.
