Delta Sizer in BOS Applied to AS Flyer at General Security
My husband had his carry-on bag put into a Delta carry-on sizer in the general security line at Logan's Terminal A yesterday (presumably by a Delta contractor or employee) and was told "it's too big" and that he needed to check it. I had already passed through security using Pre-Check. He told them he was flying AS (BOS-PDX) but they still applied the Delta carry-on sizer and rejected the luggage.
He ended up going to the AS ticket counter where the AS folks determined his bag met AS carry-on requirements. He and an AS ticket counter agent together went back to the general security line where Delta was told that the bag met AS sizer requirements and that he should be let through. The Delta employees apparently didn't believe AS as my husband reported that they engaged in a bit of a discussion.
Kudos to the AS ticket counter agents in BOS for kicking some DL butt on the issue. And rocks to the DL representatives for not understanding that not everyone passing through Logan's Terminal A flies Delta.
I'll be sending MassPort and Delta some feedback on the issue for follow up training opportunities by Delta. AS Customer Care will also get a note advising them that the ticket counter agents did a good job of protecting the interests of AS passengers.
My husband has a Nexus card application pending and he now fully understands the benefit of Pre-Check (40+ minutes to get through BOS general security vs. 2 minutes for me via Pre-Check).
