Any routing through another city would probably blow that limit.
I did this route on Saturday. While the slopey slidey seats are not ideal, there are enough pluses that I would do this route again rather than connect through YYZ on AC. Of course big plus was the op-up to J

Pluses:
-leaves in the afternoon. 4 pm is way better than starting the journey at the break of dawn.
-in reality, between meals services you are probably only going to get 3-4 hours of slippery sleep time in. This was actually a perfect amount for jetlag adjustment. I found it surprising okay for pseudo-dozing.
-I really enjoyed the LH service. Food was good, FAs were pleasant, there was even a fresh flower in the washroom!
-the gate was the most controlled I have ever seen. There was absolutely no confusion when it came time to board. Anyone loitering prior to boarding was questioned as to status or fare class, and directed to where they would be boarding. Not the gate lice situation I am used to.
- oh, and did I mention the op-up?
So, for pure convenience, I would take this route and pay the scam charges. If you can do Munich, all the better as it leaves at 6 pm I think.
