Did well in HNL with Hertz last autumn. Had booked a Corvette convertible for something ridiculously low like $60/day and, after the only one left on the lot developed electrical problems, drove off in a Merc E350 convertible instead for no extra. A much more refined (and practical for Hawaii) ride at a knock-down price. We were delighted to have a convertible as it was not too hot over there and driving with the roof down allowed all the wonderful tropical vegetation smells to waft in.

N.B. be sure to take the windy road up to the Mt. Tantalus view point. Stunning sunset views of Honolulu/Waikiki/Diamond Head from up there and easy parking.
