Hand Baggage Enforcement
Despite what I would consider an exhaustive search of this forum, I could not find an answer to my question, so I am posing it here. How strict is the hand baggage size enforcement in PHX, LHR, CDG, and VCE? Just measured my wife and daughter's normal carry-ons, which have never had an issue on domestic US carriers, and found that they both exceed the 90 cm/22 in maximum length by about 2 cm/1 inch due to the handles and wheels. I would hate to buy new carry-ons for both of them for just this one trip, but it may be cheaper than being assessed excess baggage charges. For the 4 BA airports that we will be flying out of on this trip, should I worry about being check for size compliance? If they are sized and found to be oversized, what is the penalty? I am assuming that these bags will fit in the overhead on a B744 in WTP, and on A319 and A320 in ET.
Thank you for your wisdom on this.
