Unless you've been to HNL before, I would really consider getting a taxi to the hotel. At that time of night you'll be shattered and want nothing more than to get to bed. Why bother navigating an unfamiliar town on the other side of the world in darkness, after 18 hours on a plane? Worry about all of that in the morning. But YMMV.
That's what I did the first time I visited Puerto Rico.
Wasn't 100% sure of the route from the airport to my hotel (or even where the car rental place was), how I would handle Spanish road signs / markings and didn't fancy my first attempt at trying out a left hand drive automatic in the dark so picked the car up next morning.
