Carrying enough suits on to the plane? Do I need a garment sleeve/cover?
How do you folks handle this kind of packing? I try never to check bags and often need to wear suits. I see lots of threads where people don't like wheeled bags and suiters and tell you to fold/roll suits. I'd be OK with folding/rolling but need wheels as my back has periodic problems.
Here's a typical situation: I just got back from a trip with two days in Frankfurt and two days in London. I flew overnight to FRA on Monday and started work that morning (uggh). I needed a suit for each day and flew to LHR on Wednesday night. Because I couldn't get my suit pressed until my third day (Thursday) when I was staying overnight in London, I ended up taking three suits and putting two suits and one pair of pants into my rolling carry-on. Plus I had to pack three shirts. This didn't leave me enough room for my sneakers to go to the gym. I used to use a Samsonite Spinner but switched to a Costco Kirkland brand half hard shell/half nylon spinner that I picked up for $100 that is just a little bigger inside and holds a garment folding device. Usually, I will pack two pants and one jacket and wear the other jacket. I always fly business or first class and so the jacket I'm wearing will be hung up in my car on the way to the airport and in the closet on the plane and so will be OK to wear that first day and likely the second suit will be OK too (or can be steamed in the bathroom). But, for Day 3, I will have needed to press Suit 1 on Day 2. And so on for a longer trip.
But, staying in cities for 1-2 days only, how do you pack and what to you pack in?
I saw a guy in J on BA going home who had a) a rolling carry-on bag; and b) a small garment sleeve/cover (not sure what you call them) instead of his briefcase. He put a small briefcase into his rolling carry-on and his suits went into the garment sleeve and the FA hung his garments when he got on the plane. He took his briefcase out of his rolling bag when he arrived at his seat. It seemed like a good solution to having more room for stuff (e.g., sneakers).
Do you have suggestions for a good garment cover/sleeve?
