Breakfast served on a delayed flight?
Scheduled on UA72 on 6/1 from HNL to SFO with original departure time of 6:25 am. Received notification this evening that the flight is now delayed 5 hours 5 minutes, estimated departure now 11:30 am. Sitting in F, would UA switch out the scheduled breakfast service with a lunch service due to the long delay?
On a side note, delay is due to late arriving aircraft in HNL. Thanks to all the knowledge I've gotten from reading FT, I start doing some digging just to see if it was a mechanical issue with the plane. When I trace back using "Where is this aircraft coming from" it notes flight 2114 that was originally departing SFO at 6 am on 6/1 now departing at 8 am with a delayed reason of late arriving crew. I thought strange, didn't know SFO had a HNL flight scheduled at 6 am on any day so do a little more poking around. There is no flight 2114 on any other day, check Flightaware and the last UA 2114 was SFO-SEA in 2001. Based on the aircraft type (767) I finally figure out that it was flight UA73 SFO-HNL on 5/31 that was cancelled due to crew availability. I suppose UA rebooked UA73 onto a new flight UA2114 departing the following day and changed the number since they can't have two UA73 on one day.
I have to admit it does give me some amount of satisfaction to put together the string of events based ..though when I talk to the Mrs' about it she just rolls her eyes (she's good at that) and says "why do you even care why it's late".
