This is a truly geeky question.
I have already booked a (cheapish) AMS-SFO fare, basis AR42AP is that helps.
I want to rebook it so that it runs
AMS-LHR (transfer)-JFK (transfer)- SFO.
SFO-JFK (stopover) - LHR (stopover)- AMS
The fares rules for stopovers and transfer are:-
2 TRANSFERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION.
2 PERMITTED IN EUROPE IN EACH DIRECTION.
AND - 2 TRANSFERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION.
1 PERMITTED BETWEEN BA/IB AND B6 IN BOS/JFK
IN EACH DIRECTION
1 PERMITTED BETWEEN AA/BA/IB/US AND AS IN
LAX/PDX/SEA IN EACH DIRECTION
1 PERMITTED BETWEEN AA/BA/IB/US AND AM IN
MEXICO IN EACH DIRECTION
1 PERMITTED BETWEEN AA/BA/IB/US AND AC IN
CANADA IN EACH DIRECTION
1 PERMITTED BETWEEN AA/BA/IB/US AND HA IN
HAWAII IN EACH DIRECTION
2 PERMITTED VIA AA/BA/IB/US ONLY IN NORTH
AMERICA IN EACH DIRECTION.
FARE BREAK SURFACE SECTORS NOT PERMITTED AND
EMBEDDED SURFACE SECTORS PERMITTED ON THE FARE
COMPONENT.
2 STOPOVERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT
LIMITED TO 1 FREE AND 1 AT USD 100.00.
NOTE - TEXT BELOW NOT VALIDATED FOR AUTOPRICING.
NO CHD DISCOUNT / INFANT WITHOUT A SEAT - 10 PCT.
I have two technical questions.
First, I was told by the GGL agent that I could not, without drastic repricing, have a stopover in New York as the stopovers are only permitted at the "gateway" as she put it it, i.e. in London. I am sure that I have used stopovers on fares like this before and there is nothing in the rules that says that stopovers have to be in Europe. Who is right, me or the GGL lady?
Secondly, does anyone understand how many transfers the transfer rules actually allow? It confused me and I am supposed to be good at textual interpretation, being a lawyer and all that
Thanks a lot.
