Just remember that when using the pin component of the card abroad that the first time you will need to use the card as a signature card then after that can use PIN according to the docs.

Yup, already received and activated the card and have used it a few times. Card number and expiration are exactly the same as my original card.
Even if it only needs to verify the expiration dates will not match and it might fail verification. I don't know if any of the train stations have staffed counters, everyhting seems to be automated in EU.
