If you need a replacement sooner you can always call in and a CSR/Manager can override the system and send out a replacement. As long as you received the original card and activated of course, if it still is on its way to you then thats different.
Yup, already received and activated the card and have used it a few times. Card number and expiration are exactly the same as my original card.

Even if it only needs to verify the expiration dates will not match and it might fail verification. I don't know if any of the train stations have staffed counters, everyhting seems to be automated in EU.
