In my case, within a couple months after cancelling the card, I received a 50k offer to my email address from Marriott. It was addressed to me as a Silver elite member, as the Silver status obtained from the Visa didn't expire till February. I was planning on trying a churn six months after cancellation, but the time-limited offer for 50k pushed me to go ahead then on my next app-o-rama.
