No Abel Tasman was Dutch.

Jean Batten was a pioneering aviatrix, Ed Hillary knocked the bugger off (1st to climb Everest and 1st to cross Antarctica), Ernest Rutherford split the atom, Katherine Mansfield was a writer, Charles Upham was a war hero (two Victoria Crosses IIRC).
