There are actually two types of J seats used, the first three have older still seats, these lack the USB connectors while the remaining five have the newer J seats, they are also more uncomfortable IMO. None have the Boeing Sky Interiors.
From WLG there is currently a staff shortage so they (the crews only) now only fly to SYD not MEL there are still QF flights to MEL for WLG. I flew EK J when they had the 777 and did not think much of it, certainly not for the price and inconvenience of connecting from AKL. LA stopped that years ago as it took too much time travelling and just accept the QF price premium for the convenience. Food is EK > QF > LA but when you can get the QF First Lounge for the meal it does not matter too much about the onboard food.
