You're totally at the mercy of the gate assignments. The Plane Train runs very frequently, but what can take time is if you are at and/or going to the end of a particular concourse. It can be a long walk especially the terminal is crowded.

If you're uncomfortable with this, look at the schedules for a suitable alternative. Delta can now rebook you on a different connection and they're generally (IME) very flexible with this.
