I'm a Hilton Gold and have several upcoming stays in a variety of locations; a few of the confirmation emails have had an "eStandby upgrades" section - is it necessary to click through this and request an upgrade (advertised as £0 cost) in order to get the Hilton Gold upgrade? Or alternatively, will this compromise the potential for a better upgrade when I arrive at the hotel?

Not very experienced with Hilton / Gold etc so would value opinions
