Because Finnair has very limited crew serving the business class, the extra passengers drew attention from real business class passengers when the cabin gets fuller, create hassle, and in my opinion, degrade the overall experience
Does this correspond your view?
As someone who flies almost always purely cattle class, upgrades are REALLY nice, especially in long haul. Of course it depends on your point of view, but upgrades are one reason why I fly Finnair. In certain routes there are almost always op-ups as economy is very often oversold while business is not.
I had a streak of 5 long haul flights where I flew (real) business with economy ticket and only once I upgraded myself with points this spring.
