I take red-eyes out of LAX nearly every week and I'm not spending a minute extra than I need to even if the food improves. Marina del Ray is a ten minute drive away and full of awesome, reasonably priced restaurants and bars. If you had 7 hours to kill - you really should have checked that area out.
