I'm booked to MXP on UA next month. My final destination is Davos, Switz.

My plan originally was to take the train Milan-Zurich-Davos, but it works out better/costs the same to fly MXP-ZRH and train to Davos.

I booked a K fare on Swiss through United, and I've easily interlined bags before, just never in the EU (or with LX). The K fare doesn't carry any baggage allowance; I'm sure the UA agent will have no problem doing this for me, but what will the LX agent say in MXP.. I don't want the bag to be left in MXP because I said, "No bags to check" when there's one sitting on the tarmac, but would prefer not to be charged.. but I guess they can't weigh it if I immediately re-check it after clearing EU customs (Is this the standard like in the US?)

I booked the ticket just now, so I have 24 hrs to cancel. Just curious what the LX folks on here have to say on the subject. Let me know if I haven't given enough information.

For reference, I did this same thing with SAA when flying to JNB, then booking JNB-CPT separately on a deep discount with no baggage allowance.
So you have a ticket issued by United in booking class K to fly MXP-ZRH on LX? I don't know what K booking class on UA maps to on LX, but even the lowest discount Economy booking class on LX metal will let you check one bag up to 23kg. If you are *G you can check an additional bag up to 23kg on any LX flight. You should be able to check your bag(s) through to your final destination if UA agrees to do so (and you don't have to collect your bags and re-check them as you do in the US), but even if you have to re-check your bag(s) in MXP you should be fine.

Check this page for LX checked baggage allowance. Booking classes don't affect baggage allowance, only the class of travel and status.
