To be fair, I have just come back from LAX in A380 F with an MF crew and was faultless. I had the taster menu which was interesting and some of the courses (mainly hot ones) quite good. All other flights in J the food has been good and distinct improvement on the usual 747 product.
The F suite on A380 is certainly better than the equivalent on the 777 and 747, bigger and more/better storage.
I certainly would not want someone who hasn't flown the A380 to be put off without trying it.

I've managed 7 trips in F on the A380 (should gave been 10 but 3 went tech) and no complaints from me about the service or the splendid MF crew who looked after me/us so brilliantly.
