Musken, what you describe is the perfect execution of the butler concept. Sounds brilliant and makes me want to go to Amanpulo immediately!
The butler concept really works best when he/she is dedicated exclusively to one villa (like Aman-i-Khas - I still miss Satish). We did however have good experiences with butlers at Six Senses Yao Noi and Con Dao, where they were taking care of (I believe) 6 villas at the same time. They arranged dinners, spa treatments, excursions, ice at sunset, etc. and really made our stays extremely smooth.
Two recent cases where it didn't have any benefit to us: The Connaught in London - I love the hotel, but I only see the butler once when checking in and usually never again. And Amangalla, where the butler told us on the evening of our first day that he would be off for a few days and somebody else would take over, but his replacement never showed up.
